Principal Reverses Glover Decision
Many students responded to wrestling coach Bud Glover’s forced resignation with
surprise and protest. However, on April 7, Grand Junction High School Principal Jon Bilbo
changed his decision after meeting with Glover about the changes he would like to see
with the wrestling program.

Bilbo said they came to an agreement to move forward together with changes for the
future wrestling team.

“What (Glover) has done in the past has never been questioned,” Bilbo said. Bilbo said
his original decision was in response to his and Glover’s “philosophical differences” on
how to move forward.

“My decision was always based on taking (the wrestling program) up a level,” Bilbo said.

Many students were in protest during the past two weeks after Glover’s forced
resignation, sporting “Save Glover” shirts, calling local news outlets to GJHS and
spending a day sitting in the halls refusing to go to class. Senior Kevin Ballard was one
of the students involved in the protest.

“Younger kids deserve to have him as a coach,” Ballard said. Glover has been Ballard’s
coach for four years.

Bilbo said he recognized the students’ demonstration of their feelings for Glover, but
nothing they did to caused him to make his decision.
